Four Days In Venice-Revised

Hello again. Based on input and suggestions from other travelers, I have revised our trip itinerary to Venice in May.

First full day. Early AM Vaporetto to Basillica Di San Marco, Museo Correr, cross canal to San Giorgio Maggiore and Campanile.

Day 2. Ponte Di Rialto and Market. Basillica Di Santa Maria Gloriosa Dei Frari, Santa Maria Della Saute, Galleria Dell'Academia.

Day 3. Early start to Plazzo Dulcale plus "Secret Intinerary' Tour, Santi Giovanni E Paolo, Scuolo Si San Giorgio Schiavoni, Scuola Grande Di San Rocco.

Day 4. Jewish Getto & Museo Ebraico, Ca"Doro, Santa Maria Del Miracoli. Our flight leaves Venice at 10:30 PM.

Hi S,

I think you will get a better response if you post this to your original thread.

Just going by my map, it seems like Dei Frari and Scuola Grande Di San Rocco are right next to each other, so it would make sense to do them the same day. Or am I looking at the wrong thing?

smalti Apr 13th, 2005 02:18 PM

The Frari and Scuola di S. Rocco are indeed next to one another. And seeing the two in one day would be much easier than seeing the Scuola and the Accademia in one day (not such an overwhelming volume of art). But the Scuola and the Frari both close early in the day, so timing is a factor.

smalti & SusanP you are correct about the closeness of the Rocco and Frari.
They are now on day 2 and Academia is on day 3. Elaine you are welcome to join us. Again thanks to all for the ideas. Keep them coming.

Hi again Sheinberg,

Your plan is much, much better now!

One restaurant suggestion. I really enjoyed a lovely and delicious dinner at Al Covo. Reservations needed.

Buon viaggio!

Dayle, thanks for the suggestion. Al Covo has been reccommended by several people. The "American wife of the owner" is from Galveston. I am from Houston and intend to look her up.

Thanks again.

Well, I'm glad I had that right! I'm planning my trip to Italy in Sept and had both those things on my list but hadn't actually mapped out my days yet. I always try to visit all sites/shops/restaurants in the same area on the same day to avoid a lot of wasted time backtracking. Hope you have a great trip!
