Forty Seven Hotel in Rome

I am researching a newer hotel in Rome named Forty Seven, located around the Forum and Coliseum - I am not finding any reviews in my travel guides - I assume because the hotel is fairly new - any experience with this hotel out there?

Hi einar. Look on www.tripadvisor.com. I just booked this hotel for October - it received great reviews overall. I did stay in one of its sister hotels in Venice and it was really nice. Very nice contrast to relax in an ultra mod hotel after taking in in the historical sites. :)

Hi There,
I'm considering the same hotel for a trip to Rome in February.
It got great reviews on Tripadvisor and also on Expedia
Haven't quite decided yet......

Bettina, Hi, we just came back from a fab trip to Rome. It rained for two days out of the four but it was still magical, my parents (who I met there) have already booked a trip back in February. February is one of the drier months also!

The FortySeven was very nice although I was not totally amazed by it or anything, I would go back. Its spotless of course. We stayed in a suite so had a nice bathroom and terrace.

The bus-stop is very nearby, and it is very convenient for seeing the Forum, etc.

Expedia has a great deal there now, stay 4 nights, 5th one free, but you have to pay up front.

All in all, eventhough I prefer the sleeker hotels, I think when I go back to Rome in winter I will opt for the more more cozy style.

If you have any questions, let me know, and I will try help out. Have a great trip!

Hi einar:

I booked this hotel for my husband and his 80-year-old mother last October. They had standard rooms and were delighted with the modern decor, the cleanliness, the comfort of the beds. They certainly considered it a good deal for Rome (they paid around 200 Euros per room, which I thought an excellent price). The staff were incredibly attentive and charming to my MIL, which made her feel really special on her first visit to Rome. They enjoyed the breakfast and loved the bar area for cocktails. They dined in the restaurant one evening and were pleased with the food (just plain fare).

Regarding location, it would be fine for me, and I consider it central and convenient, but many travelers here prefer closer to the Spanish Steps.

One word of warning (and I am sure you know this anyway J ): Husband asked the concierge for a restaurant recommendation (WHY? I don’t know, as I had armed him with recommendations from Fodor’s own Rome experts) and he directed them to an overpriced place, definitely preying on the unsuspecting tourist, where the food was marginal at best and the prices incredibly outrageous.

Regards Ger

Prices are rising daily as I vaccilate between hotels.
unless anyone has any suggestions for a better place, I think I'll book it

Bettina, you will enjoy it very much. There is a lovely little restuarant near by (about 5 mins walking) called (I might have the spelling incorrect)
"la Taverna delgi tre Amici" we were the only non-Italians there. Candlelit, great food and great prices. It is across the road from the Vic. Eman. Monument on Piazza Margana. Also, just across the piazza from that restaurant is a most gorgeous little wine bar that we went to for drinks before dinner. Vinano.

We went twice to both they were so magical. Have a great trip.
