Forte dei Marmi, Tuscany, for a day: securing a beachfront spot
We are 4 adults and a toddler and we would like to spend a day by the beach in Forte dei Marmi in early July. Help sought with questions as follows:
Are there any decent public areas on the main beach?
Otherwise, what's the best option for a private beach club for the day?
Likely cost of a private beach club for the day?
Do we need to book in advance (assuming that's possible)?
Thanks for any help.

Forte dei Marmi is very but very child friendly especially in late June and July when the Italian families "per bene" visit - essentially mothers and children during the week with fathers arriving on Friday leaving Sunday evening.
I recommend a private rather than public beach. The private beaches - bagno or bagni - are very well equipped with cabins/changing rooms, restaurants attached, often swimming pools, often areas dedicated to young children including toddlers etc.
There are many to choose from. You should have no particular problem finding a cabin and sun lounger during the week but the prices are not cheap.
If you want a good lunch I suggest Maito'.
At the end of the day you must sample the focaccine at Vale'. This is a true tradition of every child (and adult) who has visited Forte.

In case you get bored at the beach, one of the two best miniature golf courses we ever played at was in Forte Di Marmi - it was called Tommy Golf (anyone know if it's still there?) (FWIW, the other is Boberg's in King's Beach, California).

Nothing to what others have said, other than this town is one of our favorite gems. We have excellent seafood along the beach to the left of the pier (as you face it) though a bit pricey for some maybe. In high season or market day you have to be patient for parking. Your toddler will have fun at the piazza fountain area just in front of the pier...it's low enough for little ones to see/get their hands into!
