Forest of Bowland, England
This looks to be about the most convenient location for our family to meet up for a weekend at the beginning of November.
Can anyone recommend a cosy place to stay in a location with easy access to good food? A comfortable pub would be fine. We'd be looking at paying about £100 per room for 2.
Half of our group will be coming long distance on the train from bath and Edinburgh respectively.

How large is your group? From what I can find, there really aren't many large B&B/hotel accommodations in the area.
You might do better self catering - there are lots of cottages/houses for rent in and near the Forest of Bowland.

I'm not sure it counts as the Forest of Bowland, but we stayed at the Redwell Inn in Arkholme, near Carnforth. It was a pleasant enough place, and the food was good.
Their website no longer seems to be working but there are other booking sites that list it if you Google it.

Hi
We have relatives living in the area so I know it quite well. The Inn at Whitewell is superb - beautiful location, very pastoral, and the food is superb. But it may blow your budget!

The Red Pump Inn at Bashall Eaves is good too.

as is the Corporation Arms in Longridge

and Whoop Hall

Never been to the Moorcock but walked past many times - great location.

Not all the above are Forest of Bowland itself.
the Trough and Forest of Bowland are beautiful areas but so neglected. I guess everyone is rushing to the Lakes or the Dales, as it never seems to be busy, but it has some stunning scenery.

We loved the Forest of Bowland, try and make sure you drive to the village of Downham. It is the quintessential English village. Mind you it sounds like you are English anyway so maybe not so exciting!!! Very pretty, ducks and pond etc etc.
Can't help with accommodation, we were just passing through.
