For those who know Rome -- Your comments on a Location in Rome
Any comments on this location for an apt in Rome in the fall ? Only our second trip to Rome so would like to stay central. Will be there ~9 days in the fall.
Piazza Navona, 114, Rome, Italy Thanks |
Piazza Navona is very central. The only concern I would have is if it overlooks the square it could be noisy
|
It would be hard to get more central than that, but I also would worry about noise. It's a very busy tourist location until late at night.
|
I find the better I know a place the less central I like to be. Maybe it's a personal quirk but I like to get out of the bustle and tourist center when I can, as bvlenci aludes to, and get into a neighborhood of real people with real places to shop and hopefully quiet. Especially in an apartment which has the added advantage of often being less expensive.
|
Thanks! Based on the photos I gather it doesn't directly overlook the square. Side views from the LR look down an alley(?) to the square. Reviewers say it's quiet and has new double pane windows.
I agree with you MmePerdu, I do enjoy being out of the fray when we know a city. in this case, we don't know Rome and want to be in close proximity of many sites. Would one to get to know the little neighborhoods on our next trip perhaps. |
You can have a good luck at it using Google street view.
|
Yes, google map is always my friend when trip planning. But always appreciate hearing first hand knowledge.

I believe that's the Lancellotti address. Is Rome Sweet Rome still the agent?
The problems with this apartment (and the agency) are fairly well documented on the internet. Personally, I can't stay in a place that has water heater issues. I know people who got burned by sudden scalding water in the shower. The other issue that's well documented is the noise. Traffic is permitted along Via Pasquino, which means cars and Vespas driving by all night long. Then there's the fact that the square is so popular with night owls. |
No, the apt is not the Lancellotti. It is not managed by Rome Sweet Rome. From the map on Lancellotti it is nearby this apt. at the opposite of the Piazza.
|
The address you provided is the address for Palazzo Lancellotti on the southern edge of Piazza Navona.
Everyone knows the area around Piazza Navona is central, convenient, and lovely. Without knowing the specific apartment, no one can speak to the precise experience that one might expect at that location. |
Thank you,NYC, I have found Palazzo Lancelloti thru google and it does appear to be in the same building. Previously I goggled just Lancellotti and came up with another place on the Piazza.
I'm really not looking for anyone "to speak to the precise experience that one might expect at that location." Just wanted to confirm it is a good, central locale...that's all. And I must say, not sure who "everyone is." |
"Everyone" are all those travelers who do a little research before they pose essential questions.
:-) |
Really???? Hmmmm...good to know. And that would make the point of these forums what?

To re-confirm what is commonly known, especially to tourists who have already visited, that Piazza Navona "is a good, central location?" |
Having the same street address doesn't mean it's the same apartment. Some buildings have multiple hotels/apartments on different floors not owned/leased by the same people.
As long as noise isn't a factor for that particular apartment, it's a great location (walkable to many things). There's also the little electric bus you can catch (116) and other buses nearby. http://www.atac.roma.it/files/doc.asp?r=9 |
Thanks for your comments.
