KayF - les combles are attic, or loft space.
Rosemaryoz - unlikely that a witness would have a copy of the Acte, as, oddly enough, the official version takes several/many months to arrive, and is sent to the vendor.
And if the 'buyers' haven't even seen the property or made a firm offer, perhaps it isn't quite such a rush.

Stevelyon - for all the wonderful, helpful advice StCirq has provided here on the Europe Forum over the years - I think she is "due" this post. I cannot imagine what the issue might be - no one has ever strayed from travel related topics here.

I'm with DebitNM---StCirq has posted so much useful information over the years and she knows that Fodors is the place to get a response from people who can be of help.
