For the person going to Russia wanting to get dollars in Austria
I was intrigued by your question and asked it on another board that has European residents. You can get dollars at banks but you will have to give them Euros. And one person (whose husband is a pilot for Lufthansa) says that the better currency in Russia now it the Euro. You cannot, of course, get dollars with your ATM card.

It's kind of you to help, but rather than starting a new thread, it is preferable to post your response on the existing one. I found it easily enough by typing "russia AND austria" into the text box at the top of this page: http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34431838 I went ahead and pasted a link to this thread on that posting for you. (By right clicking in the title and then clicking on "Copy Shortcut.") |
New thread or not...a lot of people are going to be PO'd if they hear that the dreaded Euro is now preferred over the $! I wonder if there's a "more American" name for borscht!

Intrepid, it's tequila!

Hi Intrepid,
We could call borscht "freedom soup", but what will we call caviar? |
Fish eggs |
