For staying longer in Europe, does it work if I go to England?

I'm japanese, college student in tokyo. but now I'm in Belgium since 2months ago because of the disaster. I can stay here for 3months without visa, but I would like to stay here more than that. I was trying to get a visa, but it's the end of the year now in Europe and It's hard to find a school. I know many people in Belgium so I have a place to stay, the problem is if I can't get a visa, I have to go back to Japan. I heard that If I go to England I can come back in Belgium for another 3months. is that true? and if it's works how long do I have to stay there? or is there any the other good idea to get a visa for stay here like 6months? please let me know. thank you.

Yes, if you go to UK for 3 months you can return to Belgium for further 3 months (90-in-180 days Schengen rule). To be admitted to UK you need to satisfy the immigration officer that you are a genione visitor, not intending to work and have sufficient funds to pay for all your expenses and depart before the leave expires. It's helpful to have a rough itinerary for your visit and accommodation booked for at least the first few days, and a return or onward ticket.

If the reason you want to stay in Belgium is because you have no home to go back to - I would head for the Japanese embassy and get information about any options based on special circumstances. If you want to stay just because you prefer to stay - my understanding is you have to leave for 90 days. But I am not an expert on this - and again suggest your embassy has the best info.

I agree with nytraveler that your embassy is the best bet. Don't know whether you are male or female but the UK border agents are particularly wary of young single woman and their purpose in the UK. Having a departure time and somewhere to stay while you're in the UK is very helpful.

Japanese embassy/consulate do not give immigration advice to individual travellers about staying in any country other than Japan. You will just be told to contact Belgian authorities.

As I've said, a side trip to UK for 3 months will enable you to return to Belgium and Schengen for further 3 months. I agree that UK Border Agency is a toughie so make sure you can satisfy all its requirements, esp with regard to funds (about £40 or 45€ a day) and onward ticket out of UK.
