For one night- Where to???

We are flying out for one night, leaving early morning day one and returning in the evening of day two. Why may you ask? Because we can!! We are leaving out of London and are considering Edinburgh, Brussels, or Venice. Which would you choose? Consider travel time from the airports and such. Just curious.

If money were no object... Monaco for the race. I think that it is the last weekend in May.

Yes, and someone here recently was trying to unload "racetrack" hotel room reservations for only about 5000 Pounds (Brit.)..Go for it!

Hi Luv,

Of the three, I would choose Venice.

Luv2Travel May 4th, 2003 07:12 AM

Ira:
Have you been to all 3 places?? We are trying to consider travel time and such. I want Venice, but am alittle hesitant because of the travel time from treviso and then the water taxi/vaporetto time in to the city. It seems alittle easier to get into Brussels. Thanks for the reply.
And monaco is not really a consideration. But thanks for replying!!

Why do you have to go to Treviso? You can fly Gatwick/Marco Polo via BA, Volare OR BMI now flies Heathrow/Marco Polo OR easyjet from Stanstead to Marco Polo. One hr via alilaguna from VCE to San Marco or 20 mins by water taxi.

Hi Luv,

Yes, I have been to all 3. As mclaurie says, you can fly direct to Venice. From there you can take a land bus to Venice Pzza Le Roma and a vaporetto to your hotel. There are many moderate hotels near the Pzza Le Roma.

Luv2Travel May 4th, 2003 08:35 AM

We are planning to use Ryanair which does not go to Marco Polo. I don't think BA can beat 70 GBP for 2 people roundtrip. I could be wrong, of course.

mclaurie May 4th, 2003 08:46 AM

Easyjet, Volare & BMI can probably all equal if not beat 70 GBP

Mclaurie:
Since the last post of have been searching flights and they all are more. Maybe it's the time of the year. Also, from what it looks like, Voltare does not fly from London.

Luv2Travel May 4th, 2003 08:53 AM

I don't know if this helps you, but I am looking for specific times. Like the morning on 9/22 and coming back late afternoon or evening of 9/23. Aparently, Ryanair is having a sale above there already low fares.

Hi Luv,

The train from Treviso to Venice SL takes 1/2 hr.

I would choose Edinburgh..one of our favorite cities. We never tire of returning...consider it one of those places that it is just feels good to be there...a day walking/shopping the Royal Mile, tour of the city, the Castle...great time!

Luv2Travel May 4th, 2003 09:26 AM

Susiecraft:
Where do you stay in Edinburgh??

mclaurie May 4th, 2003 12:43 PM

Volare does fly from London to Venice. 2 problems-1. the times of their flights won't work with just 1 nite for those dates (you could leave on Sun morning the 21st and return Tues. morning the 23rd. 2. While fares are very cheap,TAXES double the cost to 100GBP for 2.

FYI-Easyjet would give you more options for between 50-70 GBP for 2 of you including Paris, Amsterdam,Geneva, Zurich, Glasgow & Bilbao
