Sharon, send Le Clip to Paris, and tell him to send you photos like that Travelocity gnome or "Amelie"

To me it is the endless bashing and silly name calling or name changing of political figures. And I don't just mean by Budman and Degas. I wish they could find a political forum and have at it there, on here it just goes on and on and on. By now all the regulars know that you are either left or right so what else is new?

<B>"banding</B>" was from <BLUE>mkingdom</BLUE>
Everytime I put on a black tee shirt with my jeans, I think of mkingdom. If only he knew how much difference he made .. of course, I band, but I think of him when I do it

LeClip .. that is such a good memory .. and the WebCam !
I remember Thin saying "<I>Love you, hate your shoes</I> ..

The Sorrento webcamm Scarlett? Great fun! I don't check it out anymore though. It has changed.

I, too, was here well before my January, 2003 date - maybe 1998 when planning a trip to Italy.

I remember the pareo - who was that?

Yes, and Rex, too - I think of him often as he was most helpful.

Rex just posted today as a matter of fact:

================================================== ========

Depends on how much contrast you want - - but I second the vote above for le Pays Basque. Either region could stand up to adding a second week, but in a whirlwind trip in '05, we made the pairing work very well (and crammed into less than ONE week what should have been more like three!)

Best wishes,

Rex

Let's fact it folks, a whole new bumper crop of folks need us every year. Maybe for a laugh, or some encouragement or a cyber-shove in the right direction. (We're great, but we're not a substitute for a guidebook!) If it bores you, it's like television, just turn it off, don't answer on the post or skip through 'til you find something you can/want to commment on. No one promised you it would be all lollipops and roses, because it isn't!

Thin once wrote on a thread a specific message to me about loving me, hating my hospital booties. I told him I never wore hospital booties, and my manicurist visited while I was hospitalized.

Scarlett, as usual, has the 411 on the banding issue.

grasshopper still posts. I saw one a few days ago.
I miss the pareo girl, Croque Madame., capo. Elvira.
and so many others. This is a varied group, Some overboard poltical, some trying to outdo who is cleverer, some religious, some not. Some very serious. Remember the squeky leather pants on the plane? Was that Muffy?
Is Mkingdom, NYSnob?

I don't think they're the same person. (Re: last sentence of Cigalechanta's post above.)

I am almost positive they are not, cigale. mkingdom was disdainful of what he considered to be unfashionable people but he was not incredibly obnoxious or humorless... I think he was also from the UK.

Well you're good at who's who, still not sure but banding is not used in the fashion industry the way that kingdom uses it. Black is one of the most popular tops with jeans.
Also thought of a few others missed, mermaid, marcy.
and mr. opera

Well count me among the "old timers", but I'm not THAT old. I started here in 1996 as best I can remember. I do miss some of our wonderful Fodorites that have passed. I miss the excellent writing styles and sharp humor of other, Elvia especially. And I have had some of the best laughs of my life here. I'll just never forget "Ham Tacos and the Toilet's Sucking Mud" from Elivra and the Traveling Loons, or "I was Drunk the Day Mother Got Out of Prison" and many other.

As for me, no I don't answer nearly as many posts anymore. Everyone who comes to my corner of the world (Utah) goes pretty much the same places and doesn't have time for much further (off the beaten path) gems.

I just ignore the threads/posts that do not interest me. Rather like not watching TV shows that do not hold my interst.

I do miss many Fodorites that no longer post and wonder what happen to them. One of my favorites was dear Speedbuggy (I always remember the teasing he gave me when I mistyped and addressed him as Speedbunny).

I am glad to see Rex has posted Bookchick, I always remember all the good care he gave the Fodorite who was in Paris and whose husband was suddenly hospitalized. Rex even called the hospital/doctor on her behalf.

There are still wonderful Fodorites posting on Fodor's.

Life always has changes, that is a given. It is best to understand that and carry on rather than being upset or annoyed that changes have taken place.
