Do you want suggestions about what to see in Istanbul or do you want a private guide or guide book?

There is much to see in Istanbul. You can do it on your own or hire a private tour guide. Here is a website with suggested things to see:

http://www.turkeytravelplanner.com/go/Istanbul/Sights/

http://www.wittistanbul.com/magazine...o-in-istanbul/

We hired a private tour guide for 2 day visit and got to see most everything on list. Here is Kagan's website:

http://www.privatetoursinturkey.com/kagan.html

Kagan is an absolutely wonderful tour guide. He speaks excellent English, has a wonderful sense of humor and loves showing Istanbul and Turkey to we tourists. He can plan an itinerary for you based upon your bucket lists. Check the website and his contact info is there as well.

Good luck.

The Turkey Travel Planner site mentioned above is extremely good with loads of useful information and tips. Istanbul is very easy to DIY, just get a good guidebook and you'll do fine. We planned our visits with the help of the DK Eyewithness guide but there are several others too. BTW, in some hotels you get an extra discount with the Rick Steve guide, you might want to keep that in mind, we stayed at the Uyan hotel and got 5% off by simply showing them the book!

When it comes to traveling through Istanbul, there are plenty of ways to see the sights and experience the culture of this diverse city. Many people just stick with guided tours of the city, and while that is all well and good, I really think that you miss out on some of the tourist attractions found there. If you want to truly experience Istanbul and what it has to offer, then you need to explore the city by bus.

The transit system found in Istanbul consists of over 500 buses that ferry people within the city. They travel by most of the tourist attractions in town, and it is the easiest and most economical way to see all of the sights.

When we traveled to Istanbul, we didn’t know where we should stay, how the bus system worked and where the best tourist attractions were. So, we depended on an Istanbul travel guide to show us where we should go. It was very handy as we could access the site right from our smartphones, so that we could make sure that we took the right bus and ended up at our destination.

This web site hepls me when l was in istanbul Help how to go places

I really enjoyed the history, culture and food that we found in Istanbul. The people were very friendly, and we had a wonderful time. I think that we will have to travel there again in the future.
