Football tickets in Italy

I'm traveling to Italy in October 2008 and thought it would be great to see a football/soccer game.

I'm not too picky about which team that I see. I would like to see a "major league" game if possible, but I'm not sure where to start. I've checked out Wikipedia and even gotten to a few of the offical football sites, but the ones that I have found are only in Italian and I need English.

I'm going to be in Venice, Rome and Florence. Anybody out there know a good resource for getting tickets?

That's emotionS, not emotion, that would take you to a Dutch site.

I thought all the fans were 'locked out' in Italy due to all the security problems. I could be wrong or it could just be for certain clubs, but in watching the matches on TV, the stadiums are empty.

Well, October 2008 belongs to the next season..not the current one..so there wouldn't be an schedule for it at least until after the Euro 2008. Here in Spain, the schedules usually are published in August but I think in Italy are a bit earlier.
So..getting tickets will be impossible until after the schedule is published. There's no team (good team !) in Venice so it leaves you with Rome and Florence. I'm not sure if you can buy them online..or will have to wait till you get there. Usually brokers ask for them much more than the club does.

I went to a football game when I was in Rome last September/October. The draw is not published till closer to the season. We bought tickets on the day of the game from the AS Roma store in Rome. I can look up the address, cost and any other details if you are interested. I was a little unsure about going but my husband was keen and I ended up having a great time. It was a great experience! We saw AS Roma play Inter Milan.

AmanteDelLimoncello,

I would love that information, since I'm a little clueless it would help a lot.

Thanks everyone else as well.

We are going to a football game in Venice on March 31. It doesn't matter if they don't have a "good" football team, the experience will still be fun! Details on their games is at www.fussball.wettpoint.com Tickets will be around €14 each.

The Stadio Penza is in Sant’Elena, the stop before Lido on the No 1 vaporetto. Tickets can be bought directly on match days. Kick off for Sunday afternoon matches is 3pm summer time, 2pm daylight saving time.

This is one of the few football grounds in the world that most supporters approach by boat. On alternate Sundays, when Venezia is playing at home, the No 1 vaporetto - is comandeered by groups of fans in green, orange and black scarves. They disgorge at the Sant’Elena stop and troop across the park - towards the stadium.
