Food tours or gourmet walks
Hi
Does anyone know of a tour company or individual who does these in Paris. Not looking for large groups, not overly expensive either. Many thanks |
Why not do a DIY version. Grab a current Michelin guide, have a meal at each place. Bring the sick-bag.
I don't quite understand what you want - sounds like a tasting menu. |
If you type "food tours Paris" into Google, you will find a number of them. Rosa Jackson, the restaurant critic for Time Out Paris, has one: http://www.edible-paris.com/food-tou...ood-tour.shtml
So does Rachel Kaplan, who offers many interest-based tours: www.frenchlinks.com/parisshoppingtours.html |
I am not sure if this meets the price standard, but there is a company called chicshoppingparis.com. They do various shopping tours and I know that they have one for foodies. Price is about $100 for 4 hours. The previous post made a good suggestion, get a guide and do a walking tour stopping at eateries along the way.

Here's one recommended by Mariena Speiler of "The Roving Feast," which appears in the San Francisco Chronicle. The tour/coioking class is led by Paule Caillat.
www.promenadesgourmandes.com Sounds like a lot of fun. |
Many thanks to you all!
Had two friends who tried the chic shopping tour on separate occassions and both times were a waste of time and money. I wonder if these people are legit or not. The girl who does these shopping tours sounds like a young American set up in Paris and running tours on the black. I did contact Rachel Kaplan's tour company and found her agressive and pushy. Wanted money up front, found she didn't really express any idea of what I wanted, so will try Edible-Tours which sounds just right and also promenades gourmandes is perfect too. Yes, will get a good foodie book and follow that too. Thank you for your suggestions. Can't wait to eat my way around Paris! |
A fantastic tour company that specializes in private tours for one, two or three people (maybe more), and customizes tours too, is www.parisphototours.com. They do a gastronomic tour and lots of other great tours and are VERY reasonable. They're getting great press, including on the aol board! Good luck.

i was going to also suggest the tour guides Lizzy is speaking of. The other woman in the business is a native of Belgium living in Paris. They would arrange a great day for you.
