Food Restrictive Diet in London

My daughter must east Gluten free foods and foods prepared in a very simple way..no fats etc. Has anyone found a good couple of restaurants for this or stores?

HI
Most places have salads, many places at this time of year especially, offer soups (though possibly made with a meat stock), and there is almost always broiled fish or roasted chicken available (the skin could be removed). I'd skip pubs just because their offerings are more limited.

Hartlyn, I just did a search on www.google.com for Gluten Free Restaurants London and came up with a number of good hits. I think if you explore this option you should find what you are looking for.

Here's just a few sites that I found:

http://www.vegsoc.org/theguild/fandd-london.html

Hope this helps.

Friends who went to London last year and have some very strict diet requirements found this website useful:

www.planetveggie.co.uk

I know that Holland and Barrett sells a variety of food products for vegans. Also the Old Spitalfields Market has at least one bakery stall that sells gluten free goods. The bid market day is Sunday though I think there are stalls open all week. Spitalfields is well worth the trip Sunday morning if you enjoy that sort of thing.

Overall you'll probably find the offerings in mainstream shops and restaurants more plentiful than in many US cities. Good luck!

There are a lot of vegetarian restaurants in London and there are the types of places already mentioned.

For folks with really restrictive diets another option is to rent a flat instead of staying in a hotel. You would have a kitchen so you could fix some meals yourselves and stock up on vegies and other things for late night munchies, etc. With al the super markets, small local grocers, ethnic markets and poshe places like the Harrods Food halls you could find any ingrediants you could possibly need . . . . . .
