Food or Drink Experiences Found in BRUGES, BELGIUM?

OK, you guys know the drill by now:

If you were visiting BRUGES, BELGIUM,

(1) What city or regional food or drink specialty is something you MUST experience because it's just not the same anywhere else; and

(2) At what place or establishment in particular prepares or provides it the best?

Beer! They have so many good kinds of beer, all with their own specific glasses. I enjoyed the Kriek, as well as a beer brewed by monks (can't remember the name).

I believe Belgium's specialty is chocolate, and it is very good. There are also many french fry stands around, I think they are eaten with mayo? Didn't try during my visit.

Bruges (and Belgium in general) are great! Have fun.

Moules-Frites is a classic Belgian favorite, there are several good places for it in Bruges. There are gazillions of delicious beers throughout Belgium, but it's nice to try those brewed locally - ask the waiter in pubs or restaurants for recommendations based on your taste preferences. I LOVE Bruges, but I can't say it was where I had the best food in Belgium. It can be pretty expensive. But the city is really beautiful. Enjoy!

Don't forget the lace. Lots of shops in Bruges.

Does Trappist (sp) sound familiar as a Monk brew? ((b))

That does sound familiar, Budman. If I recall it was VERY strong!
