Food on Norway in a Nutshell

We will be doing the 10+ hour N in a N tour in June with 2 teens. Where is food available? Should we bring food? If there is a dining car on the "main train", what kind of food is available (we have very picky teens!)??

If you are doing the tour from Oslo, you'll be on the Signatur train that leaves shortly after 8 a.m. That train serves lunch and snacks (part of the price of the ticket) in first class, and the food was delicious. It is served to you like airline food on trays, but bears no resemblance to taste. And yes, there is a car that serves food. First class also provides free beverages, so if you're in first, DON'T go down to the food car to get soda or coffee, since you don't need to pay for it.

I don't know what picky means to your teens, but mine isn't picky (but I am!), so he was fine with everything they served. Me too. Nonetheless, you can pick up food in the Oslo train station (everything from sweet rolls to sandwiches) before you leave, and once down the cog train at Flam, before boarding the boat, there's a big tourist shop right there (and plenty of time to spend in it) where you can buy all sorts of junk food and ice cream.

There's also snacks/drinks on board the boat.

Once off the boat, you are hoarded onto boats, so no time to get food, and once in Voss, nothing really to eat, so you must wait until you get to Bergen.

"no resemblance to taste" -- meaning it tastes nothing like airline food!

Screwed up again (long day). Hoarded onto boats should be busses. Which you don't necessarily want to do on a full stomach.
