Food Markets open every day?

We decided to go to Paris a day early so we'll be getting in on Sunday and staying till Friday. We're staying on rue de Levis, a market street. Will the vendors be selling every day or are they closed one day a week? What about the monoprix, closed any certain day? thanks

Don't know about Monoprix, expect its open daily, but all of the roving markets (those that show up at various corners/streets a couple of specific days each week) are closed on Mondays.

Monoprix is closed on Sunday. Otherwise there are some small grocery stores that may be open sunday morning. The G20 in my neighborhood is open from 9 am to 1 pm on sunday and the other 4 grocery stores are not open at all.

Often smaller places like butchers and vegtable vendors are open in the AM on Sunday and sometimes all day. I wouldnt be surprised if plenty of stuff was open on Rue de Levis on Sunday but I cant confirm that.

Here is a great link to the markets in Paris: http://www.paris.fr/EN/Living/markets/markets.ASP. Now, if someone could just tell me if they're open on holidays, like 1 May!!!

aloha:

I've not been in Paris on May 1 for many years, but just as a general rule with regard to the French, if it's a holiday, they'll take it. I doubt vendors would pack up all their market stuff and schlep it into Paris on a holiday when they probably wouldn't make much money and would be sacrificing a holiday themselves. I could be wrong, but I'm sure someone who lives in Paris will correct me if that's the case.
