How about a performance at La Fenice while in Venice? It's fabulous and not to be missed if you have not yet been there. I'd say the same about La Scala. We just don't have such opportunities here in the states, and I live near NYC. My favorite small museum in Venice is the Ca D'Oro, which is right on a vaporetto stop.

May is early in the Dolomites for flowers; you'll see a bit of snow still. Last July, when I hiked there, the wildflowers were at their peak then. Gardens around the lakes you'll be visiting should beautiful. The Villa Carlotta on Como fulfills fantasies quite well, but the walking tour in Bellagio is definitely worth the investment of time and effort. If you don't have a car, I recommend the commuter train between Como and Milan because it has no stairs and is next to ferry in Como and closer to central Milan.

As an artist, you will still be amazed by Last Supper. Book tickets ahead on internet and definitely go. Ambrosiana is wonderful museum, but the greatest intimacy and intriguing variety of collections was in the Palazzo Poldi Pezzoli, which is conveniently in the shopping area of Milan.

Congratulations on your anniversary and enjoy your trip!
