Fondue in Paris?
 

This might seem like a weird question but if anyone can answer it, it is the fodorites. Here goes. My wife and I will be returning to Paris later this summer. She was telling me about one of her earlier trips to Paris (before we met).

She has good memories about a street in Paris lined with fondue restaurants. She said the street ended by a small, old (perhaps medieval) square (not place des voges -- a very small square) that was surrounded by interested bar/restaurants.

Does anyone happen to know of a street in Paris that has several fondue places?

There is at least one fondue restaurant on Rue Mouffetard. I can't remember the name of it but the sign on window said Fondue & Raclette. It was full of people and what they were eating looked very good. Enjoy Paris!

GR 5 has two locations. We ate at the one in the 16th. It was a great little spot with good food and wine and friendly staff and patrons. We will try the one in the 17th on our next trip as that is closer to our next apartment. I

Just a point of clarification. I'm not looking so much for a good fondue restaurant. Rather, some help in identifying and locating this particular street in Paris that has lots of fondue places on it.

I think nini is right. Mouffetard comes into Place Contrescarpe which is like a small square. There are several fondue or raclette type restaurants on Mouffetard.

I punched in "Place Contrescarpe" into google images, pulled up some photos of the place, called my wife over, asked "is that it?" and she said

"Yeahhhhhhhhhh"

robjame, thanks for the link. That is definitely the place. the funny thing is that she and i have been on Mouffetard together several times and she never once mentioned fodue or a square. memory is a funny thing....

I ate at one on Blvd. des Italians, very close to Blvd. Haussmann. I think it's the 9th. There was also a Fondue restaurant on Blvd. Raspail in the 14th. It was almost across the street from my hotel which was at 212.

Bonjour! Just got back lastnight and rue de Huchette in the 5th, latin quarter just off a small square by rue St. Michel, don't know if this is your place, but there were a lot of fondue restaurants and we had raclette there at one of them. Enjoy!

The Latin Quarter has two or three Fondue restaurants. The area obviously gets extremely busy/touristy, but if you can put up with that the food is actually quite nice.
