Fodor's photo contests only for US residents
I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I would like to know why Fodor's photo competitions are only open to residents of the US? This forum has readers from so many parts of the world...why can't we also have a go???

I suggest you send an e-mail to Katie at [email protected]
She can explain why the contest rules are set up that way. There is a lot of legal-ese and there may be a valid or practical reason for it.

It is very common for photo, and other competitions to only be open to residents of a particular country. Very often it is to do with the prizes offered - the suppliers of the prizes limit where they can be given for instance. Also the postage of such prizes to anywhere in the world is very expensive, can result in import duties and other taxes being payable, which the winner would be responsible for and may not want to pay.
It is frustrating, but I do understand the reasoning.
