Fodor's Disappearance

One of the board erasers must have thrown Fodor's off Fodor's.

Tulips Jan 21st, 2016 12:45 AM

For the past couple of days there has been a 'temporarily off line' message on www.fodors.com

Blueeyedcod Jan 21st, 2016 01:20 AM

I was in Singapore and was getting 'Site under maintenance' coming up.

StCirq Jan 21st, 2016 03:08 AM

It sure wasn't "routine maintenance," as they made it out to be. But maybe they've finally fixed some of the draconian flaws that have been around for the last few months or more.

Tulips Jan 21st, 2016 05:10 AM

typing 'fodors.com' into my browser still gives the same 'temporarily offline' message now. So whatever it is, is probably not fixed yet.

At least now we can edit our posts - or is that technology still years away?

>>It sure wasn't "routine maintenance," as they made it out to be. <<

It apparently was the entire corporation -- the Random House and Penguin Books sites were also down for 'upgrades' so it must have been a major installation of some sort. Since Monday . . . .

IMDonehere Jan 21st, 2016 06:01 AM

Most major corps make their changes at night or on weekends so that it does not interfere with work and more importantly pointless travel board messages.

hetismij2 Jan 21st, 2016 06:05 AM

Maybe it was a DDos attack by some angry banned Fodorite. :)

kerouac Jan 21st, 2016 06:27 AM

Internet sites normally warn of "route maintenance" ahead of time. This was much more of a surprise outage.

StCirq Jan 21st, 2016 06:29 AM

Maybe the TA "moderators" took over.

immimi Jan 21st, 2016 06:59 AM

An attempted coup by Rick Steves?

PalenQ Jan 21st, 2016 09:28 AM

Well Eugene Fodor was a CIA agent and spy so.......it all makes sense.
