Fodor's Disappearance
One of the board erasers must have thrown Fodor's off Fodor's.
For the past couple of days there has been a 'temporarily off line' message on www.fodors.com
I was in Singapore and was getting 'Site under maintenance' coming up.
It sure wasn't "routine maintenance," as they made it out to be. But maybe they've finally fixed some of the draconian flaws that have been around for the last few months or more.
typing 'fodors.com' into my browser still gives the same 'temporarily offline' message now. So whatever it is, is probably not fixed yet.
At least now we can edit our posts - or is that technology still years away?

It apparently was the entire corporation -- the Random House and Penguin Books sites were also down for 'upgrades' so it must have been a major installation of some sort. Since Monday . . . . |
Most major corps make their changes at night or on weekends so that it does not interfere with work and more importantly pointless travel board messages.
Maybe it was a DDos attack by some angry banned Fodorite. :)
Internet sites normally warn of "route maintenance" ahead of time. This was much more of a surprise outage.
Maybe the TA "moderators" took over.
An attempted coup by Rick Steves?
Well Eugene Fodor was a CIA agent and spy so.......it all makes sense.
