My real name is Marilyn but sometime before registration I stopped posting with the name Marilyn as I thought there were too many other people with the name Marilyn on this board.

If you put in the word Marilyn in the "text "and then punch "find" you will find many posts and some of them are mine from the past. These were written prior to registration.

Trivial point, but it is true.

True lynlor, which is a good reason to use the new feature which is to click on the name in blue at the top of an individual post. I gave up doing a search through the regular search function using Patrick, because I got lots of Patricks. But now with the new system, I just get my own posts.

I hope I didn't give the wrong impression. I didn't mean the site has been cleansed.

It just has a cleansed feel to it. I'm not sure if that's good or bad.

Patrick & lynlor -- I used to post under my full name but I guess I registered early enough to get "Marilyn". Sorry, lynlor!

Now that I've read everyone's interesting stories I think I should re-register with something more colorful. We had a beloved cat we named "Amelia Furrheart" -- how would that be? Kinda travel-related...?

Marilyn, glad you got " Marilyn". I
stopped using Marilyn about eight months ago and started using lynlor because it seemed to me that there were too many Marilyns on this board.

I think a lot of people will be put off posting now registration has been introduced if, as was my experience, it took me four attempts before my registration was acknowledged. I was about to give up when I thought I'd give it one more try and it was at last successful. It was extremely frustrating having something to say and not being able to log on. Perhaps now they have ironed out the bugs in the system.
CM

While I find some of Fodor's new SOP annoying (especially the technical bugs with registration/multiple log-in's,) I take the view that it is their site, it's free, so they can run it as they wish. They want registration, they want indexing - fine, it's their game, their ball, and therefore they get to make the rules.

Rather than complaining about their right to run the site as they wish, I take a free-market, capitalist approach and figure they'll notice the drop-off in traffic and respond accordingly.
