Fodorites with "Arguemania"

So, maybe some of us just like to argue?? I notice that, no matter what the opinion, or subject, there are those (often the same ones) that need to "refute" the concept, "Morph" to another theme, or be generally quarrelsome.

Now, my DH is that way, but that is probably cause he learned it in Law School..."so where were you exactly on the night of the ...?" or "what makes you say that?" "how can you think like this?", etc. Well, guess it's fun, and there is no consequence when you do it online....hmmmm.

Nuh-uh.

TRSW May 7th, 2008 10:26 AM

clarasong,

Shouldn't this be in the Lounge instead of the Europe board?

That's so funny - I've wondered about the same thing!! And my DH is one of "those" as well. Always the devil's advocate...

I think it's obvious that we all have our own travel styles and there are countless ways to experience traveling. Why some think their way is the best way...I don't know. Wish we would all keep in mind that this forum is for the first time traveler as well as the seasoned one. I'd love to see a little more "understanding". (but I still think people who don't like Florence are crazy!) :)

Then there are those who stir things up and, when the row starts, feign innocence. They are what are known as trolls.

Jed May 8th, 2008 06:10 AM

What, me argue? ;;) ((*))

sheila May 8th, 2008 06:51 AM

You're wrong. I never argue.

cigalechanta May 8th, 2008 07:43 AM

Yes, you do :)

zelphiacat May 8th, 2008 07:46 AM

no you don't.

tekwriter May 8th, 2008 07:58 AM

Is this the five minute argument, or the full 30 minutes?

No it's not.
Yes it is.

AnselmAdorne May 8th, 2008 08:08 AM

LOL, tekwriter, a Python fan.

Later on in the sketch:

"Argument is an intellectual process. Contradiction is just the automatic gainsaying of anything the
other person says."

Now that I think about it, there is the occasional outbreak of contradiction around here.

Anselm

zelphiacat May 8th, 2008 08:19 AM

no there's not.

Nikki May 8th, 2008 08:19 AM

I really hate it when people say I argue because I went to law school. It was the other way around.

Christina May 8th, 2008 08:21 AM

You shouldn't be posting stuff like this on the travel board. If you insist on starting threads with your personal opinions and observations of other posters, do it in the Lounge. I personally think Fodors could do without such threads, on any forum board, and your time might be put to better use.

zelphiacat May 8th, 2008 08:23 AM

wow. that's harsh.
now go to your room!

caroltis May 8th, 2008 12:06 PM

Why in the world would you open a post and read through it if you were adverse to the thread in the first place? Just skip over it...
I hope we don't get too stuffy on Fodor Forum to have a little fun from time to time... :)

susanna May 8th, 2008 12:30 PM

Your time is up...

No it's not, that wasn't a full 30 mins.

Yes it was. I'm not going to argue about it unless you want to pay for it.

clarasong May 8th, 2008 02:28 PM

What's really funny is when DH and I 'argue' vehemently and then realize that, hey what???? we are actually trying to agree...but just put it differently. Anyway, law school ir not , he met his match in me. What I lack in audicity and knowledge of the subject, I make up for with tenacity...and he just 'gives' up....does that mean I won?????
