Just fill in the missing words. I'm only on my first cup of coffee.

jmw,
Exactly my thoughts! =D>

Did you see Judi' s photo of the Soglio-Stampa trail??
Those stones...
Did I say stones? :-?
Woohoo, can't wait till it's Wednesday. Stones gig at the Stade de France! :)

I am off to Paris on Monday. =;
Have a good week all!

OMG, sorry, I almost forgot about that!

Happy Holiday to all of you on the other side of the pond, and expats living all over the world, of course!

Ursula, You made me laugh out loud! I can just picture you in your enthusiasm!!! Have a wonderful trip.

I'm headed to SF this morning. Big 4th of July festivities on our lagoon.

Hello everyone!!

I'm taking a few minutes from an unusually busy month to catch up with you kind folks! Nutella, Scarlett, Kavey, and uhoh, thanks so much for your gentle responses to this report; I really encourage you to find Ingo's 2002 report on the Engadin to get more details and a whole lot of great ideas for more activities!! And to the rest of the Swiss fanatics, Hello! Judi, your photos are wonderful! I am so jealous of your great eye! Ursula, thanks so much for remembering the American holiday! Any good stuff come out of your latest adventure in Paris? Grasshopper, did you have great fireworks over the Bay? Have you found & field-tested a good torte recipe? jw, are you enjoying ANY of your techie course?? I'm hoping to piggyback off of all your new knowledge! Ingo, thanks for the information on Le Prese and also for the direct recommendation to avoid ValPoschiavo in winter.

Thanks to Ingo's recommendations, I plan to go back to the Engadin in the summer of 2004. I'm hoping to spend five nights in the Engadin (probably at Ingo's **rave** favorite, the Waldhaus in Sils -- but maybe at the Waldhaus in St Moritz) and two in Valposchiavo. My dates are flexible -- so if any of the old gang or some of our new ones want to meet up for a bike ride, a dinner, or a stroll, just drop me a line! I'd *like* to go around the first or second week of June.

In the meantime, I'm going ahead with plans to hang out in the Saanenland in January. The Gstaad website's Winter - Sports pages has 30 bike rides, and I've selected a few that are rated "easy - level - suitable for families." So if there's good snow, maybe I'll ski, but if there's no snow, I'll enjoy a few bike rides, a few excursions (Montreux, Spiez), and some great new views.

In the meantime, I'll enjoy the planning, the never-ending search for images, and of course my vicarious living as others plan and post about Switzerland.

Great summer, y'all!!

Hello folks,
I am back from Paris.

<<Any good stuff come out of your latest adventure in Paris?>>

Sure, first the gig. It was just great. The Stones still do rock, I tell you. The crowd was crazy, but peaceful, very good atmosphere. Very impressive event on a beautiful hot summer night.

Highly recommend the Marlene Dietrich exhibit (Musee Galliera, till October 12) and the Henri Cartier-Bresson photo exhibit (Bibliotheque Nationale, till July 27).
Other than that, forget about the famous sales. Mostly junk. I saved a lot of money, I tell you...

s, I'll be in for the second Engadin GTG next year. Not only to get away from any possible heat wave down here, but it was just too much fun.

Not sure about January at the Saanenland though. I might go back to Asia some time early 2004.

Ugh, and we are having again very high temperatures these days.

Nice summer to you all!

Hi all. Well, I was naive to think the 7-day technology session was a "workshop" -- It is a full semester course crammed into seven 8-hour days! (plus homework!! At the end of the first exhausting day, I reacted like Maynard Krebs "Homework?" -- if you remember him, then you're old.) And each hour of each day is an introduction to a different process, or software, or strategy, or education site. What a humiliating experience for a techno-challenged person like moi. You would not be surprised that I try to twist every assignment into a "Swiss travel fantasy". . . .

Soooo before I put my nose back to the grindstone, let me say hi to you all, and a special one to you, S': ---If you can fit it in, please visit the Musee du Vieux-Pays-d'Enhaut in Chateau d'Oex, and bow down before the breathtaking papercuts of Johann-Jakob Hauswirth for me! They are unforgettable (well to me, that is). I've just purchased a book on his work from Thames and Hudson. And if anyone knows of other published collections of his papercuts, please let me know. I'm absolutely enchanted. J.
