Fodorites in Chicago, Milwaukee, Madison Area
Just wondering how many Fodorites are in the area. I am in Madison. Perhaps we could plan a Fodorite get together.
I'm in Chicago but not sure if I would qualify as a full-fledged Fodorite.
I'm about mid-way between Chicago and Milwaukee.
I grew up in Kenosha. Attended the University of Wisconsin & lived in Madison for 12 years.(I will be back in Madison on Dec 23rd for my neice's graduation.) Now I live in suburban northwest Chicago. There have been a few get togethers of some Chicago fodorites. It would be nice to widen the area for a get together.
Hello neighbors! John, I've been inquiring with the people who've been at some of the other get togethers and haven't heard about anything being organized. Since I live downtown, I wouldn't mind putting something together or helping out anyone else who wishes to do so.
Hey All,<BR><BR>Well there are a few of us out here. I'll keep a list of names/emails and for those interested we can plan a get together.<BR><BR>Heather and Bill seem interested. Not one to rush anything lets plan on sometime in March. I'm not sure what the best location would be - will determine this based on where the majority of people end up being from. Right now I'm thinking either in Chicago or perhaps Kenosha - I'm probably the one off in the distance.<BR><BR>Anyway, if anyone else is interested post your name/email here (or if you don't won't to put your email here than email me at [email protected]).<BR><BR>john

Howdy all. I'm from Milwaukee and also went to school in Madison. I think I'm one of the few that actually managed to escape Madison's gravational pull. Also lived in Racine, Janesville and Prarie du Chien. Nice to hear from the locals!!
Heather, great idea! <BR>I live in Cincinnati, so it's a 4-5 hr. trip. I'd love to join you guys.<BR>Barb Kittridge, I think if you participate in the boards in any fashion (gathering info, posting answers to existing threads, or creating your own threads) that you are a Fodorite. So don't be shy.
Mary C - great, please count me in on any event. I was worried I might need some secret handshake or code for a moment.
John, we've had several gatherings at Cafe Iberico in Chicago with 10-20 people at each, the last one being in August. Some of those folks might be interested as well as me. I'll pass the word along once the details come out.
Good evening, We are still here.<BR>Richard of LaGrange Park,IL...
Sally Fowler lives in a suburb of Chicago, but is "on the road" now & possibly won't be checking this board again until after the new year. Richard Vicek, always good to see you!
Rex<BR><BR>Would you join us at this meeting?<BR><BR>I can't wait for Sally to get back to help plan this.<BR>I look forward to meeting everyone.
I would have replied sooner, but I've been spending more time at the Asia board lately - going to Thailand in a few weeks.<BR><BR>I've been to a couple of the Chicago fodorite get togethers and I'd definitely be interested in another get together. I live in Kenosha and my husband and I both went to UW-Madison. I have a friend who I met on our trip to Turkey who is also interested in going to a get together.
I am from Chicago area !! Count me in
I would like to add my two cents into the discussion. How about meeting in Racine on the water-there is a restaruant there (Moorings or Landings?) that has a great overlook of Lake Michigan and that would be a midway spot for both Wisconsin or Illinois people? Or for a few laughs-How about the "Brat Stop" in Kenosha? Whatever anyone decides-could you add my name to the list? Thanks-Debbie
hi all<BR>i'm from nw indiana and find it hard to make it to get-togethers(work hours)-but if you could keep me on an email list if one is set up that will be great. i often wonder about the people on these boards. i've wanted to know about the trips when fodorites meet in paris or other cities.<BR><BR>thanks
I'm [*finally*] back -- and I'm happy to let chicago_heather do the work here:) Beth K. organized the first few meetings Some pictures are at: http://traveurope.net/fodorite/fodor.htm
Topping for interest.
Anything new along the lines of a GTG?
Oops! I missed Sally's last message, so I think it's me dropping the ball here. And, here I've been wondering why nothing was being planned.<BR><BR>If you're interested, either post here or email me at the hotmail address. I'm open to suggestions for where and when (if everyone wants a suburban location, someone else may want to take over ... I only know how to get to Ravinia and Evanston).
I live in downtown Chicago. Downtown is probably the best place to meet since everyone who is responding is from either Wisconsin, Chicago or the suburbs. Email me when you make the plan at [email protected].
Heather -- *lol*<BR>Well maybe you could gather the emails addresses and do an evite poll as Beth did? I'd offer, but it's not a good term for me :( I could do any weekend except next weekend, March 15-16 and April 5-6.
You can see pictures of past Chicago GTGs [as well as the others that are posted...] at http://traveurope.net/fodorite/fodor.htm
So how'd we get from "..Milwaukee-Madison" to suggesting a downtown Chicago location???<BR><BR>I'm a former Chicagoan turned full-time cheesehead six years ago (living 3 hours north of Milwaukee). Have not been able to make the earlier get-togethers in Chicago, but am still interested - all the more so if I don't have to go all the way to Chicago to do it.
Well... Chicago was in the post header? Although we do have some folks from NW Indiana and for them Chicago is more central, I'm open to a site between Chicago and Milwaukee.
As one of the Hoosiers, I don't mind traveling a little further than Chicago. I'd even be happy to car pool with a couple of the others if interested.<BR><BR>Sally, I sent you an email re: Bulgaria a few weeks back. Did you get it? Thinking about going there this year if you have any info that could help us :-)
how abou another?
