I just had an idea of perhaps visiting a naval/ship museum. In SF, we have (or had--don't know if it is still there or not) a ship that is step up as a floating museum...everything is kept behind glass and you can see how things looked on the ship in the 1800s.

Does London have something similar that would be fun to see? Also, what would be the best museum in London to look at photos and artifacts pertaining to London and the war and the blitzkrieg?

I, think, after my trip, that I will have visited so more museums than most people have visited in 10 years!! Ha!

Go to the Cabinet War Rooms!! It's an amazing glimpse of wartime operations during WWII.

HMS Belfast might be what you're looking for.

You want the Impreial War Museum, and the Cutty Sark at Greenwich.

It's a nice area to wander round, too.

You could make a day of it while visiting the Cutty Sark - the National Maritime Museum is nearby (and free), and if you take the Docklands Light Railway to or from Greenwich, you could stop at West India Quay for the Museum in Docklands, which will tell all about London's involvement with shipping and trade, and has a section on the Blitz as it affected Docklands and the East End (where the Museum of London displays nothing on that period at the moment).

The other route to get to or from Greenwich is to take a boat, and en route you will see HMS Belfast, a warship kept by the Imperial War Museum:

Another vote for the Cabinet War Rooms, the HMAS Belfast and the Imperial War Museum. All very much well worth a visit. Are you taking children? My son, 11 at the time loved all of these places.

My sons love the Maritime Museum as well as museums and ships in Portsmouth. Very hands (and feet..there was a wall to climb ibn Portsmouth that would move to lass than 90)on. They preferred those to the Cabinet War Rooms.
