Fodorites--I need help deciding between these Venice hotels

I am very indecisive and need to book hotels for our honeymoon. I am ready to book our Venice hotel and through researching mostly on this website and tripadvisor, I have narrowed it down. Which would you suggest of these:
Luna Baglioni
Londra Palace
Locanda Orseolo
Duodo Palace
Al Ponte dei Sospiri
Ala

Hi, When are you going? If it is this summer, you may not have as many choices as you listed as many are already booked. Check availabilyt by email and that may narrow it down a bit. If it is far enough in the future, or in th off-season then this forum's opinions will help. I will be staying at Locando orseolo next month; will be glad to report back to you all.

Recently spent three nights at the Duodo Palace with my wife. Excellent location for walking to San Marco or the Rialto. Comfortable room. Very helpful and professional staff.

Our honeymoon is in early July. I have checked availability and all are currently available. I want to stay somewhere that is a good location since we will only be there for a couple of days. I would also like to have a nice room.

I'm not famiiar with all the hotels on your list & have not stayed in any, but I'm sure you know some are 3*, some 4, & I guess the Luna Baglioni is considered 5*. If you want a place that feels grand with lots of services, the smaller places like Locanda Orseolo won't have that. Conversely, the bigger, grander hotels like the Luna can have small or unimpressive rooms unless you're paying top dollar. (Did you read tripadvisor comments by some about views of walls at the Luna?) So I guess I'd say it's not just selecting the hotel, but also what kind/level of room you'd get & what's most important to you.

What I loved in Venice was having a view of water & being able to watch boats float by. Others have said they had better things to do in the room besides looking out the window-or-weren't in the room long enough for it to matter. If you haven't read it, you should at least skim this thread on "favorite hotel rooms in Italy." Any Venice mention always includes a view.

For what it's worth, I once read about room 203 at the 'Ca Bauta (I don't remember where I read about it)in the Castello section of Venice. It has a balcony & a jacuzzi. It may not be as centrally located as you want, but you might check it out. Congratulations & best wishes on your upcoming wedding.
