Foderite roll call here..who's going to be in london or paris in october?

hi everyone,

okay who is going to be in either of these two cities in october?

i (in a group of 5) will be in london from 10/12-10/17, paris 10/17-10/23, then london 10/23-10/25.

also, i was emailing bookchick and made a joke about something. does anyone else out there take a notebooks of all the online advice, bookstores, restuarants, places to see and go. i have a little 3 ring binder that i bought for my notes on this trip. all the stuff i found on the net i have printed out and plan to take with me. does anyone else do this?

kent,

we will be in london the same last few days. we will be there on the front end of our trip and then return from paris to london on 10/23-10/25.

i can't wait. i have been to paris, 2 times, but only to london once. we took an 16 day escorted tour of great britain thru globus back in 1996. started in london then went south and west coast to wales then up north following the coastline to liverpool, glasgow, the highlands, then edinborough, then down the east coast thru york, stratford on avon, then back to london.

was a wonderful trip, my only complaint, of course not enough time in each city especially london, but this was my first trip to europe and made me feel secure. it's also a great way to get acquainted with a place. after that, i have had no problem "doing on my own".

we hope to really see alot this trip and have three people who have never been. we will also be doing day trips to stonehenge/bath then hampton court/windsor castle.

on the stonehenge and bath thing. because we are 5 in our group, we made a decision to go thru ray skinner for a private van and driver for the day. it will cost us about 60 pds apiece, but he/she is at our disposal all day and we will get to go thru some of the smaller villages that the tour buses arent allowed.

i know we probably could have done this cheaper on our own by train but we voted for the splurge because we wanted a treat. we will do the train thing for the hampton court/windsor day.

we got a great deal on airfare. nonstop american roundtrip raleigh to gatwick $545. i know you can find cheaper out of the larger cities and the specials now are showing less than that for november and on, but at the time it was showing $350 out of jfk and we would have to spend $150 for connectors. who did you go thru?

Sandy,
We'll be in Paris October 20-30. We are planning a few nights away from Paris in a chateau. This is our 6th trip. I have always taken a notepad along, but a few regulars on these boards have given me their best advice, so you probably can't go wrong. I have always learned a lot here!

My husband and I will be in London on October 16-20th and Paris on October 20-23rd. We will be traveling on Eurostar on Saturday morning to Paris.

I take photocopies of internet information, especially train schedules, than might pertain to our adventures. I'll take a copy of the hotel confirmation, and probably my Rick Steves' book. I usually need to read up on Rick's recommendations a little more and DH likes to read about our upcoming vacation on the flight over the pond!

My cousin, Diane & I will be in Paris from October 17th til the 24th. She had an accident in July & fractured her patella, so we'll be making our way through Paris sloooooooowly...the better to savor its beauty, I think. No plans to take in the UK; Diane & her daughter were in London for vacation a couple of years ago & we decided to keep this trip "simply Paris", perhaps with a dash of Versailles for good measure!
Bon Voyage, Tout le Monde!

London 10/6-10/14, then Eurostar to Paris thru 10/28.

Three ring binder (only 1" thick this time) with all the maps, addresses and itineraries (HAH, how many of YOU know where the most haunted bookstore in London is?? Or the "forgotten" streets in Paris?? huh? huh? Scoff as you will at my 3-ring binder, but I've got way cool stuff in it...)

I know the city has endured for centuries, but will it still be standing after Elvira & I are on its soil simultaneously?????????????

Kevey, I don't see why residents would be excluded from the question. Wish I could get to the UK to meet you...some other time, I hope....

Shall the yahoos who're going to be in Paris all at the same time try to get together? Maybe on a boat in the middle of the river where we can't hurt anybody?

Or a quiet cafe that's already going out of business...

My emai address is real, so if you all want to contact me to co-ordinate?

Will arrive in London Oct 3 and depart Paris on Oct 14. Will be escorting my daughter and her husband on their honeymoon. Don't laugh. It was her idea to take her parents along as tour guides as she hasn't been to Europe before. She didn't have to twist my arm much to talk me into it. And yes, we do have separate rooms all along the way.
