Flying to Zagreb and will be going to Ljubljana to join tour group.

I will be taking a tour thru Slovenia and Croatia and will be meeting my tour group in Ljubljana around the 9-10th of September. Being that I will not be renting a car what is the easiest way to get from Zagreb to Ljubljana: train, bus or plane?
I will be self touring Ljubljana and Lake Bled with the tour group when they arrive so am looking for other suggestions of sites, towns in the nearby vicinity that I might visit?
Any suggestions of restaurants that you might recommend would be appreciated.

Take the train.

It takes you city center to city center, unlike flying.

It takes less time than the bus or flying (considering how early you need to be at the airport and the extra time it takes to get to and from the airports).

It's cheaper than the bus or flying.

It has restrooms, unlike many long-distance buses in Croatia.

As for your question about things to see, your post is a little confusing. How long will you have in Ljubljana before you meet up with your group?

Škofja Loka is a nice little town not far from Ljulbjana. I'm fairly sure you can reach it by bus (I had a car).

I had hoped to visit the town of Kamnik too but didn't have time. There are direct trains between Kamnik and Ljulbjana.

If you have more time, take a bus to Piran on the coast - beautiful seaside town.

Will you be then exploring Ljubljana with your tour group as well? If not, obviously you should spend some time there. There isn't tons to see there, but it's a delightful little city.

You could of course spend a night in Zagreb - not my favorite city, but there is a half day's worth of good sight seeing, and you will be there anyway. Some people really like Zagreb as well.

I'm one who likes Zagreb. The parts you are most likely to explore are the Upper Town (Gornji Grad) and Lower Town (Donji Grad).

I really enjoyed the Croatian Museum of Naïve Art http://www.hmnu.org/en/ (a museum of folk art with good descriptions)

Nearby is the Museum of Broken Relationships, which I have never visited.

This guide is a pretty good one http://www.inyourpocket.com/croatia/...seeing-culture

For some reviews of restaurants in Zagreb, Bled, and elsewhere:

I also loved Zagreb. Any good guide book should give you the info you need for Zagreb, Ljubljiana, or any of the other wonderful places in this part of the world.
