Flying into one city and home from another: website or travel agent?

I haven't been to Europe in 7 years and am planning a trip for 2004 (so excited!) \/
Anyway, given our itinerary and amount of time, I'd like to fly into Frankfurt and out of Zurich or Munich. Is it better to work with a travel agent on this, or can it be done through a website? The websites I've looked at seem to limit to flying into and out of the same airports. Thanks! (reading all your posts is really getting me in the mood for my trip and makes me realize I need to go more often!)

Most of the major airfare booking sites have this option: Expedia.com, Travelocity, etc. The websites for a number of the airline's own sites (such as AA.com) have this option as well.

Look for "Multi-City" to do open jaw flights.

But once you see what airlines offer what you want, be sure to check out the airlines' own sites and also phone up an airline agent. I got a much better deal recently for a multi-city itinerary from the United site than I did from Orbitz, Travelocity, or Expedia.

Two other tools you night find useful - - the "DreamMaps" feature mentioned on http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...2&tid=34458591 - - and asking for advice on the "Cheap Flights forum" of www.eurotrip.com

Best wishes,

Rex

Thanks to all for the great tips! And WillTravel, I've also found that if I talk directly to an agent, I sometimes get better fares than the Internet, so I'll try that too.
