Flying from Malaysia to Europe

We will be flying from the Malaysia to Toulouse on KLM. One day later, we will fly to London (Heathrow) on British Airways. Will we need to go through customs when we reach London?

After three days later, we will fly to Paris (CDG) on British Airways as well. Will we need to go through customs when we reach Paris?

You will go through customs and immigration (passport check, visa check if appropriate) in Toulouse. When you arrive in London you will go through immigration but when you go through customs you take the "EU" channel. Same thing in Paris.

"We will be flying from the Malaysia to Toulouse on KLM"

I very much doubt it.

You're almost certainly either flying from KL to Amsterdam on KLM, then on to Toulouse on KLM or Air France, or flying to Paris, then on a separarte connection to Toulouse, on Air France planes code-shared with KLM. In either case, assuming it's all on one ticket, you go through immigration in Amsterdam or Paris but your bags are automatically transferred on to Toulouse. Neither you nor your bags go through a specific Customs check anywhere in this journey: but the baggage tag on your luggage identifies it as originating outside the EU, it's subject to scanning at AMS or Paris and there's a tiny chance you might be taken to one side at Toulouse and asked questions about it.

On arrival at Toulouse, you don't go through immigration.

Otherwise, what hanl said.

Hi hanl,

Thanks for your reply. Just for double confirmation, we need to go through immigration to allow the immigration officer for passport check & stamp on our passport when we reach London and also Paris?

Hi flanneruk,

Yes, you are right! We are going to take KLM flight from KL-Malaysia to Amsterdam, then transit from Amsterdam to Toulouse-France. It's all on one ticket.

Here are the requirements for each leg:

KUL-AMS: You will clear immigration (passport scan and stamp) at AMS, prior to connecting to your next flight

AMS-TLS: You will collect any checked bags and proceed through "customs". If you have nothing to declare (pretty much the case if you are not planning on leaving anything of value in the EU), then you just walk through the "Nothing to Declare" lane to exit.

TLS- LHR: You will clear immigration at LHR. After collecting your bags, walk through the "Arrivals from the EU" lane to exit.

LHR-CDG: You will clear immigration at CDG. After collecting your bags, walk through the "Arrivals from the EU" lane to exit.
