flying from Madrid to Barcelona

We fly into Madrid on Air France at 8:35am and will immediately fly on Vueling to Barcelona. Do you think we can make a 12:10 plane? Is Vueling in a terminal near to Air France? the next plane isn't until 14:55. We'd rather not spend so many hours in the airport, but of course, we don't want to miss the plane!

Yes, I know it would have been better to fly into Barcelona... but we saved nearly $400 doing it this way.

Thanks for your thoughts.

You have to change terminal from 2 to 4.....the bus between terminals takes about 10-15 minutes,
It seems to me you have sufficient time to collect you luggage and check in at Vueling counter.

Ps....officially, the ride is 7 minutes, but
you may have to wait for the bus a few minutes.

That's great! So, you think we can make the 12:10 even with going through customs? That would be wonderful!

If you are arriving from outside the Schengen zone, you will go through passport control at T2,
pick up your luggage ( unless one has something to declare, there is really no customs control).
I cannot remember where the bus for T4 is located, but it should not be difficult to find.
At T4 you have to check in with Vueling. BTW, you can print Vueling boarding passes well ahead of time.

We made a similar connection in less than three hours ( without luggage ).

Here are several extra points to remember about Vueling:

-- Their departure desks close 40 minutes before the stated take-off time so you should subtract those minutes from you 12:10 p.m. target.

-- You can check in on-line as soon as you buy your ticket, printing out your boarding pass or downloading onto a smart phone.

-- You also specify (and pay, if necessary) for your bags in advance. There are also some choices of seating in advance.

-- Doing all of this preparation will speed your transfer. Terminal 4 in Madrid is not close to anything. With Vueling, as all budget airlines, it is wise to carefully read all the regulations on the website. They enforce their rules.
