I am booking a flight on British Air for September and I cannot see available seats or select my seats. Does anybody know why? Are you able to select your seat as it gets closer to the travel date? I am tall and would like to select my seat for such a long flight so I don't get stuck with no leg room. Thanks for your help.

We flew BA last May and we could only make seat selections 24 hr. in advance, both ways. I didn't like it either, we paid for upgraded seats and did get good seats though.I was worried about getting a seat in the middle also.

We are booked with them for next month. According to their web-site you can either pay extra to book a seat in advance or wait until 24 hours prior to your flight. check in on-line and pick your set at that time at no additional fee. One step closer to charging for toilets. IMO

Sue, yes. I had to wait till 24 hours, and quickly get on line and pick seats....pain in the fanny.

It started off because BA claim they need the flexibilty to deal with complicated groups. Someone's got to sit in middle seats whatever happens, and if you want extra legroom, economy's not a good place to start anyway.

True or false, the reality now is that if you don't qualify for pre-choosing, you can pay a supplement to do so and BA need the money. They say on the website you're supposed to do this when you book: I imagine they'll take your extra cash if you phone.
