flying air canada to london

hi there. has anyone flown from toronto to london on air canada (our departure time is 11 pm). if so, do they serve any meals? show any movies? i am guessing we should try to get as much sleep as possible, although this may be difficult. any info you can share would be appreciated.

I'd check the website regarding meals and movies. I'd take a blindfold and some earplugs and just nod off until breakfast. I have flown toronto-LHR on a morning flight and it was fine. Usually I fly later night flights to Europe on other carriers. They feed you, movie, sleep and breakfast. Just try to sleep when you can, and you'll catch up in Europe.

Have a good trip.

I am a regular AC flyer to London although I have never flown this particular time. My expectation would be that there is a hot meal served after take off and a cold one prior to landing. Wine and beer are no charge in hospitality class. Notwithstanding the fact that most people would like to sleep they will likely show a couple of movies for the benefit of the insomniacs. I recall an AC overnighter to Madrid when a woman seated near me felt it necessary to laugh loudly at Mr. Bean's antics. Good luck sleeping.

My recollection is that they serve a hot meal and drinks very quickly after take off and then turn off the lights. Most people sleep, or try to, for about 4 hours, after which a light breakfast is served. I don't recall any movies being shown at that time.

I did it 3 years ago, and it was the usual sort of overnight transatlantic, as SusanMargaret says. I don't recall any movies, but I do recall some rather noisy conversations between the cabin staff in the galleys: but AC was going through all sorts of problems at the time anyway. Apart from that, travelling with AC was a pleasant enough experience.

Free beer and wine in coach. None of the U.S. carriers do that across the Atlantic anymore. Enjoy. Have one for me.

There should be a couple of movies - shown on the community screen as most AC aircrafts don't have personal screen in coach. [Exception: A345 service Toronto - Hong Kong, and on their new Embraer E170/190.]
