FLYGLOBESPAN...ANY EXPERIENCE?
Has anyone flown flyglobespan. www.flyglobespan.com i have been looking at some fares. i live a couple hours from toronto canada and 99$ fars to london are available in the SUMMER!!! then I found some 20 $ flights from london to milano with ryan air. so like 150$ or 300$ r/t instead of 1000 in summer, seems pretty awesome. any experience with them at all???

Do not take Flyglobespan if you want to get to your destination relatively on-time. Let me repeat, DO NOT TAKE Flyglobespan.
They published a totally unrealistic schedule with the equipment they have, and with several mechanical problems during the last few weeks, many flights are cancelled and severely delayed - like for days. And with plenty of equipment substitution, definitely do not pay more for any "premium" seats or services, as you may not get them. If you have to find the cheapest way across the Atlantic other than swimming, perhaps look at Zoom. |
Globespan have had some terrible press coverage in the Scottish press recently (they're a Scottish company). Rkkwan has pretty much summed up the problems which have been reported.
Apparently they are now taking steps to improve things but I wouldn't travel with them for the time being. Jim |
hmm thanks guys. although the prices still look great. anyone tried zoom???

Here's one little article from an Irish press about the most recent delay:
www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/mhkfqlkfeysn/ This is a JFK-NOC (Knock, Ireland) -LPL (Liverpool) flight. |
Zoom has good reviews on the boards I frequent, but it is also subject to occasional delays (although it seems not so bad as FlyGlobeSpan).

humm if not in a hurry these 100$ fares are pretty amazing

After you read this latest article from Ireland, you may change your mind: http://www.irishabroad.com/news/iris...ers030307.aspx </i> |
Yow - that would be a painful experience. Because most travel insurance excludes delays caused by terrorist events, even travel insurance might not help here, given that the delays are partly blamed on the Glasgow incident.

I had originally booked the non stop Liverpool to New York flight back in January. i only became aware that Globespan had introduced a stop at Knock in March & they explained that as we would not be getting off the plane it would be a direct flight for us. The Knock stops were introduced on alternate days so if we wanted to we could change days. Also the take off time was moved on 3 hours so arrival would have been late evening.
The additional cost of accomodation equalled the price of switching to BA & fly from Manchester. I switched to BA but have watched the Globespan situation escalate. The flights although basic were cheap. It is apparent though that the direct flights were always due to stop at Knock. The daily flights were reduced to 4 flights a week & it has been announced this week that from October they will cease. Amongst their other problems have been mechanical faults, emergency landings & cancelling flights because the plane was being used on another route where their plane was out of action. It is a shame that they have been so unreliable as the current fare to New York would be over £1000 more for me to go now (£250 each for 4 of us). I don't know why the plane could not fly to Knock from USA - at least there would have been transport to get from Knock to Glasgow by land/boat. |
