Flowers in Vence in March?

Folks,

I'm idly considering straying from my favorite haunts in Switzerland if I can get away in March, so I'm wondering if I might see flowers in the south of France then. I see that temps would be 30-50 deg. F, but I don't know squat about flowers and blooming, etc.

Strangely, a strong factor in this consideration is a hotel, La Grande Bastide outside St Paul de Vence (www.la-grande-bastide.com). It looks so sweet and appealing that I think it would be a great place to veg and med. But I don't want to go if the vegitation would be dead & brown.

I'd love to hear your thoughts!

In March I think you would get only the earliest flowers. The grass shuold be green but most things will not be in flower yet (based on my rome early April experience).

Swandav - The window boxes in Venice are full of cyclamen in March. Very colourful.

Hey Thanks You Two!

I appreciate your help! But I'm a bit underwhelmed with the prospect of a brown or a very wet early spring along the Cote d'Azur; I think I'll stick to my Swiss semi-plans for March. I should plan to see Vence & St Paul some time when I can also get to Provence.

Thanks again!
