Florence Weather in Late July?
 

Can anyone give me an idea of what the weather is like in Florence come late July? An estimate in Fahrenheit would be great. I know Rome is super hot that time of year, but I'm hoping Florence won't be as unbearable.

I haven't visited Florence in July but went in June and it was boiling then! It felt like it was in the high 80F's.

Super hot I'm afraid. Florence is well known for being one of the hottest, stickiest places in Italy. It is in a sort of "bowl" surronded by hills and in summer the hot air tends to settle over the city unless there is a good wind to clear it away. After living in Italy for so many years I've forgotten all about Fahrenheit, but in Centigrade we are talking high thirties, possibly low forties.

Hot, humid, sticky. Perfect excuses to dine exclusively on gelato, and be indoors at museums during the hottest time of day.

Hello oasis, the only time in my life I got heatstroke was in Florence and that was one hot day in June. Florence as other's have described gets so hot and so humid and with all the tourist it is unbearable. I would rather be in Rome than in Florence actually.

We were in Florence in early July last year. It was hot but not unbearable.
I guess it's a matter of luck, whether you happen to have hot temperatures or very hot. :)

We were in Florence in mid July last year. It was over 100 degrees F. Hot. Too hot to be strenuously walking about in the mid afternoon, but not too hot to be unbearable. AC is a definite plus, especially at night since the city & buildings retain heat. Evenings cooled down nicely.

Florence is situated in a sort of little bowl in the center of surrounding hills and in the summer is oten hotter/more humid than Rome. Count on VERY hot and humid.

I can't speak for July, but I was just in Florence in May and it was already very hot.

There was a reason why the royals had summer homes in the Dolomites.

Florence will be a little hot and a little stinky. But it's Florence and I would go anytime possible.

Thanks for the responses. So I've decided you are all correct, Florence is just way too hot in the summer time to visit. So we will skip out this trip but hopefully visit in the future during the fall or spring. Thanks!
