Florence- Tuscany- Rome

Hello, I will go with my husband to Italy. We will arrive on Saturday sept 15 at Florence and have our plane ticket back to our country from Rome on Saturday 22nd.

What places do you recommend to visit with this stretch agenda. We were planning to spend 2 days in florence 2 days in Tusacny W/car and 2 days in rome. With such stretched days, what places you recommend us to visti and how long to stay? Many people have told us that we rent a car, is this true? Can I rent in Florence and drop off in Roma at my return?

thanks

You won't want a car in either Florence or Rome. Rent the car as you leave Florence and drop it in Orvieto on your way to Rome. Take the train to Rome from Orvieto, the station is opposite the rental car drop off.

You leave yourself precious little time for your itinerary. Is there a way you can extend your trip by a couple of days or, if you already have your plane tickets, reduce your stops to 2?

It will be a lot easier to advise you on things to see and do if you will share some of your interests with us. Do you like art, scenic landscapes, food, wine, churches, ancient sights? What? Give us a little more to go on and we can help.

In that short time I suggest only 2 destinations---save Rome for when you have at least 5 days to see it well.

Or just go to Florence and Rome. Save the car trip for when you have more time. Picking up the car and dropping the car will cut into your short time. The train between Florence and Rome only takes 90 minutes and transports you from city center to city center (where you should be staying).

If you want to see something of the countryside, take a day trip from Florence or Rome.

i agree that you are trying to cram too much into too short a time. you have actually only 6 whole days, and you'll lose 1/2 a day of that every time you move accommodation/city.

There is more than enough to entertain/interest you for 6 days in Florence or Rome alone - with both together, you'll be spoilt for choice.

if you MUST stay in the country, then i suggest that you drop Florence this trip rent a car from florence airport, and drop it at Orvieto. [make sure that you leave enough time to see the Cathedral].
