Good 2-3 day strop max 3-4 hours driving from Pisa (towards Trieste)

Do you have any suggestion about where to spend 2-3 days, 3-4hours max driving from Pisa (towards Trieste)?
Early August?
Something interesting both for adults and kids?
tnx!

Lake Garda -

Take boats around the lake - go swimming - see awesome Roman ruins at Sirmione

kids can also go to Gardaland:

Can also day trip to nearby Verona.

For adults and kids, early August, Lake Garda seems like a very obvious choice.

I'll third that. We had a great week there a few years ago when our kids were a bit [ok, quite a lot] younger. loads to do and it's very easy to get around.

Sirmione is the Bellagio of Lake Garda but in early Aug it will be a complete zoo in the daytime - obviously book ASAP - this is a huge vacation area for Europeans.

Two towns at the southern tip of the lake are rail heads for it so perhaps staying in one of these would be nice - I've stayed in Desenzano and it was a sweet town on the lake's southwest tip. Being where you can get off and then on the train helps.

Peschera de Garda(sp?) is a more interesting town IMO and the other lake rail head - between it and nearby Sirmione is a long nice sandy beach:

I've stayed at the top of the lake, in Riva del Garda, and also at the bottom in Sirmione.

Pal's suggestions sound good. In any case, I strongly suggest a pool.
