Florence to Sorrento

I would definitely take the train. Take the train to Naples and then there's another train that goes to Sorrento at the Naples Train Station. I think it is called the Circumvesuviana, though I cannot remember for sure. It passes through Pompeii and the last stop is Sorrento. From Naples to Sorrento is about an hour on this train.
