There are many threads regarding this subject. Try putting in the search "siena" and see if you get them. I actually add to many posts a third option. That is to hire a driver to take you and your family or friends to Sienna for the day and you can also see another Tuscan town as well. I used Sunny Tuscany and my driver was Ricardo. (www.sunnytuscany.com). When I used them the price was about the same for the three of us had we purchased a day trip on a bus load of people, but the prices have gone up a bit in the last two years. Still, you have a private guide and he has access with his van to drive right into the center of the Piazza where you must have a permit. Also, he took us to a nice little inn for lunch and we even stopped at a local butchers shop to sample the wild boar salami, olive oil, etc. Just an idea for some who may not realize there is this option!

Maxamarm,
Bus is better. Cheaper, faster, more convenient
