Florence to Portovenere without a car?

We are getting married in Volterra, and will have a car for a week, but we wanted to ditch the car for our 5 day honeymoon. Is there public transportation from Florence to Portovenere? We are looking at staying at tbe Belvedere Hotel.... Thank you so much!!

Train, or drive, to La Spezia and take the local bus from there. They run about hourly and only take about :15.
The Belvedere is near the entrance to the village where the bus stops. It is OK, but we prefer the Albergo Paradiso next door. Both are very adequate.

Here is a good site. Do not let them sell you the half board deal[with dinner]--ask for B&B http://www.portovenere.it/index.htm
