Most people here didn't recommend to visit Mian, but just to spend the night close to Centrale railway station where the trains from Florence arrive and where the trains and buses to MXP start (of course not at Cadorna, which can only be reached by metro).

BTW: for me, Milan is a sympathic city, with it's fine restaurants along the shore of Naviglio, with it's outstanding museums (like Brera, Museo delle scienze e Techniche Leonardo da Vinci, MUDEC, etc.), with it's castle and it's brick architecture (like Ambrogio church), etc. etc.
