Florence to Fiesole - Worth a trip after dark during winter season?
Hello,
I will be in Florence in late November for a few days. Due to comittments during the day, the only time I may have to visit Fiesole is in the early evening - probably after sundown as the winter days are shorter. Is it worth a trip in the evening during that time of the year? It seems that a number of hotels are closed, so I am wondering if it will be too quiet for walking about or shopping. I was thinking of going just for dinner one evening. I may be able to make it for a few hours for lunch one afternoon. Please give me your thoughts. If you think I should go for lunch or dinner, I would love some restaurant recommendations. (It looks like Villa Michele will be closed that time of year!) Thanks in advance, Chels |
I would say no.

Hi Chels,
You get a lovely view of Florence at night from the Terrace of the Bar Bleu in Fiesole. There are some nice cafes on the town square. >I am wondering if it will be too quiet for walking about or shopping.< Walking about will be pleasant. ((I)) |
My guess is that in late November the terrace of the Bar Bleu -- and any other terrace in Fiesole -- is not going to be open for business.
Italians do not enjoy sitting in the cold, and very few terraces are equipped with the kind of heating that larger establishments in Paris can afford. |
Hi Eloise,
The Bar Bleu is eqipped with infra red heaters. ((I)) |
Thanks for the responses. I will probably just decide based on my schedule.
