Florence: The Pitti Palace
Looking for rants and raves. How large is it and would 2 hours do it justice? Best days or times to visit?
|
Cato - The day I went only the Silver Museum (very cool with all the floor to ceiling Frescos), the Porcilain Museum and the Bobili Gardens were open. So I didn't get to see the Palace itself.
But I would recommend it!! The views at the top of the Gardens is amazing. As is 2 hours doing it justice, in MHO, no! I spent 2 hours alone wandering the Gardens and only scratched the surface. Tom |
You must go! TRSW has it right about the garden and views.
|
I say go also. They also have a costume museum on the top floor which is really neat.
|
Another definite yes! Splurge and get the comprehensive pass and don't miss Boboli Gardens. About 1/2 day is a minimum IMHO.

Go go go!!!</g>
I agree with TRSW that 2 hours doesn't do it justice at all. I don't think they sell the comprehensive tickets biglietto cumulativo anymore. But regardless of what I said in the other post about it being overpriced, it is worth it. I love going in the mornings and the evenings. Since I remember in one of your posts about going with someone kissable, I'd also take a long stroll (or if you're tired, bus D outside the Pitti, OR walking along the Arno to Ponte alla Grazie and taking bus 12 or 13) up to Piazzale Michaelangelo for the sunset. ;) The site from there down to the River Arno is beautiful at all times of the day, but particularly sunrise and sunset. Remember, you can walk to Palazzo Pitti from the center of Florence just by going to the Ponte Vecchio and following the Vasari corridor above you. It's not a long walk. If it was good enough for the Medicis, it's good enough for you ;) |
Oops, sorry about bolding everything. Apparently, I didn't do something correct, but only the GO GO GO was supposed to be bolded.
My apologies. That also must mean it's sleepy time for this east coaster. I-) |
Appreciate the feedback. It is on my list.
