Florence Taxis
 

Are Taxis easy to come by in Florence? My wife and I went three years ago and walked everywhere and now my parents are going and don't feel they could walk as much. We didn't look for taxis so I can't offer them good advice.

Yes, there are taxi stands all over and Piazza Republica has one in it.

We only used the taxis to and from the airport. Btw, there are different surcharges depending on the time of day or night.

I was in Florence in September, & as I'd been ill, had to use taxi's frequently. As Ann says, they are all over, & we found restaurants, hotel etc ,only too happy to call for one. They seem honest & reasonably priced too.

We took several taxis in Florence in January. I just hope your parents don't get the "HippieMobile" as we call it.

After dinner we had the pizzaria call a cab. Waiting out front, I didn't notice when up pulls this car with "flower power" daisies & cartoon type drawings all over it. Then I realized it was the cab!

Upon opening the door, the female driver's music was blaring &amp; we discovered the interior was much like the outside. But it was late---and cold---so, what the heck. I slid onto the back seat and----sat on a <i>ukelele</i>! She encouraged me to play it and sing along (I declined).

Believe me, I couldn't make this up. =P~

Besides, she overcharged us, too. Tell your parents about this---she shouldn't be hard to miss.
