florence: taxi from airport

We're making our own arrangements in Florence, and I just realized that I need to figure out how to get from the airport intro the city, somewhere near the Uffizzi.

Anyone know what the taxi costs are like for such a trip. Is there another way to go, possibly by public transportation?

A taxi will cost 10-20 euros. The airport is quite close to the center. The public bus would drop you at the main train station, which is still across town from your destination. Take as taxi.

I remember that we paid about Euro 17 from the Duomo to the airport.

I agree that a cab is the way to go.

We paid 15 euro a couple of years ago.

Thanks for the replies. They give me a good ballpark figure, which is what I was looking for. Also thanks for the guidance re taxi vs. public transport.

We stayed at Hotel Cavour, which was only 2 blocks or so from the Uffizi, and we paid close to 20E for the taxi. I would recommend cabs, as they are readily available at the airport and most hotels will arrange one for you upon departure. It's easy and cheap, not to mention quick. I lived in Florence for 4 months and each time I took the cab to the airport to pick people up, it was quick and cheap.
