Florence/Sorrento - itinerary questions

Hi everyone,
My husband and I will be travelling to Florence and Sorrento (and area) in about a month. We are staying at the Globus in Florence and the Antiche Mura in Sorrento. We were planning on 3 full days in Florence and 5 days in Sorrento, to visit the coast, Naples and Pompeii. My question is, will 3 days be enough in Florence? There's just so much to see in Sorrento and area that I think that extra day is better spent in the south... also, any other advice is appreciated! Thanks!

Hi D,

Three days in Florence is sufficient to see the major highlights and enjoy the town.

You might find the Florence and Amalfi Coast parts of my trip report helpful.

The weather might not be to your liking (in November) when you reach the Amalfi Coast. Therefore, I'd say that you should build flexibility into your itinerary...

Personally, a lifetime in those places isn't enough, but for the time you have I think you split it up very well. Even if the weather isn't warm enough to swim in November in Amalfi, there is so much to do in the whole area you will easily fill the time and want more. It will also be comfortable to travel and not hot.

Hi,
Thanks to all for your helpful advice. I am much more reassured re: itinerary and weather. Ira, have read so many of your postings and have found them all so interesting, informative and amusing. Thank you for your consistent attention to worried, unexperienced travellers! Looking very forward to our trip!
