Florence Rental Car Question
Without restating all the facts, I'm the 'chosen one' who is gathering facts, reservations etc for a group of coworkers and myself who are going to Italy in October.
Our plans (as they stand today) are to leave Rome on a Saturday morning and take the train to Florence and pick up rentals cars there for a week in Tuscany. I've checked autoeurope.com and have found less expensive options via thrifty.com (I've also spoken with them over the phone).
My question now is...what kind of treck is it to get from the train station in Florence to the airport? It's my understanding that there is not a train, is there a direct bus from the train station to the airport? I'm having some difficulty finding this information online.
Thanks so much for your help!

Are you picking up the car from the airport? We rented with autoeurope and walked to the rental agency from the train station in about 5 minutes. Is there an additional fee for picking up the car from the airport as there is in some countries?

I also rented a car in Florence for a drive through Tuscany. I also got multiple quotes and based upon what I found, I called the 800 Auto Europe number. They matched the best quote and I ended up with a good deal. I picked up the car in Florence because I didn't want to hassle getting to the airport. It was extremely easy driving out of town from their office- one or two turns and that was it. We dropped the car at the airport in Rome, also a snap. I wouldn't bother trying to get the car at the airport- it'll probably cost you more and won't be any easier than getting it in the city.

Thanks! I hadn't thought about autoeurope matching quotes. I'll give that a shot. I'd much rather not have to go to the airport to pick up the car, but since it's not just me going I'm trying to please all the budgets I can!!!
