Florence online museo reservations - charges?
 

I just about booked tickets to the Accademia, but don't understand what all of the charges are. I know admission is €6.50 and there is a €3.00 booking fee. I was surprised to see other fees as well. I found this at www.weekendafirenze.com. Here are all of the charges. What's the Exhibition Fee? Doesn't look like it is optional to me.

There is a special exhibition "Homage to The David" for which you are being charged extra (1.50 € each). The Online Booking fee is their service charge (like TicketMaster, etc. in the States).

As many people here advise, you an call directly and not pay weekendafirenze's hefty booking fees
On most calling plans this will be an inexpensive telephone call:
011 39 055 294 883 Mon-Fri 8:30 am to 6pm,and Saturday 8:30 am to noon (local times). You will get an English-speaking operator.

Uffizi and Academia Museum Reservations
The easiest and cheapest way is to call Florence 011 (U.S. international access code) 39 (Italy's country code) then 055-294-883 8:30-18:30 M-F and 8:30-12:00 Sat. Florence time. You will get an English speaking operator and in 2-3 minutes YOU CAN RESERVE FOR BOTH. This is through the reservation service at the Uffizi and costs beyond the normal entry fee only about 3 euro for the service. This is MUCH cheaper than the commercial booking services.
You will not be charged for the reservations unless you use them.

Actually the easiest and cheapest way to get reservations is to e-mail your hotel (no phone call charge) and they will e-mail you your reservation number and time. All you pay is the regular 3Euro for the service.(the hotel doesn't charge any fees for this)

And the 3 euro fee is paid by me when I pick up the tickets when I go there for the reservation right? So if my reservation time is on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m., I show up at that time, pay for the ticket and go on in to the museum right?

I was told to be there 15 min before the reservation time when I made my reservation. I have read that at Uffizi, even the reserved ticket picket can develop a line. At Accademia, you pick up the reserved ticket inside the entrance. At Uffizi, you pick up the reserved ticket across the court yard from the entrance, so technically you will be late at Uffizi if you show up exactly at the reserved time (not that they were strict about time, I got into Accedemia 15min before my reserved time...)

I was also told by the reservation agent that they only accept cash. I am not sure if she really meant it. I am curious if anyone else managed to pay the entrance fee using a CC at the ticket window.

When we were there we paid cash. There was a woman who was making a huge fuss about not being able to use a CC.

They finally called security to throw her out.

It was all done in Italian. A great language for drama.
